Research funded by HNCFA

Research case study

In this video our 2022 grant recipient team, including Thu Thu Win Myint, Dr Nick McIvor, Professor Richard Douglas, Professor Mark Elwood and Professor Paula Lorgelly, explain about their research project and the impact of our funding.

“The Foundation provided seed funding that allowed us to gather initial data, secure further funding and develop more extensive research projects.

The findings of our project have implications for both healthcare policy and clinical practices. For example, the dramatic increase in oropharyngeal cancer incidence suggests the need for healthcare policy to promote HPV vaccination for disease prevention.

The disparities in survival outcomes of oropharyngeal cancer among specific ethnic groups highlights the importance of policies and clinical practices that address those inequities.”
